March, 4th 2015: New x-ray machine at Northampton General Hospital allows ARGENT greater research possibilities

New facility for superficial x-rays allows for safe and fast cancer treatment and research

The ARGENT network helped fund an upgrade to the orthovoltage x-ray equipment in the Radiotherapy Centre at Northampton Hospital, UK. The Open University (OU) has unlimited access to this machine for radiotherapy research, which is also used for patient treatment. This reinforces existing research collaborations between the OU and the hospital, and allows ARGENT researchers access to orthovoltage radiotherapy equipment at a fraction of the cost of purchasing bespoke on-site equipment.
